Change Audio Settings in Microsoft Teams for Windows

Sometimes in MS Teams you may need to adjust which audio devices are being used for the microphone and speakers, for example if you're using a headset or external speakerphone.

Setting the Default Audio Devices

  1. In Microsoft Teams, click the elipsis (three dots) near the top-right corner of the window. Then in the drop-down menu select Settings.
  2. In the Settings window, select Devices on the left-side. Under the Audio devices section you will be able to change the Speaker and Microphone options.
  3. To test the settings you've selected, click on the Make a test call button.

Setting the Call-Specific Audio Devices

  1. When in a Microsoft Teams call, click the More (elipsis) button, then select Device settings.

  2. Using the drop-down options, choose the Speaker and Microphone options desired.
Note: For microphone, you can test it by speaking into the selected device and watching the purple dots move up and down (if they don't move, something is wrong).
